Unfortunate, but likely very true.

I've recently just started using the ignore feature that the forums offer.. It's much easier to never read what the troublemakers have to say than it is to read it and resist the urge to respond to the nonsense...

I don't get it.. Maybe they didn't see the word Hybrid in this forums sub description??

Prime Winner,

It was never my intention to dissuade you from making the modifications you'd like to make. If you'd review my responses, you'd clearly see that I'm telling you the truth. It's just that I've been a member of two different road bike clubs and a touring club. I've been riding bikes longer than you've been alive. I have both seen and felt the progression of cyclists so many times before. It has becomes so evident to me when I'm observing a latent roadie.

You impress me as a person who wants to spread his wings and fly like a bird. Just as free as never before! You want to fly high, fast, and forever! To me, that's what a road bike can do for you!

You don't need drugs, alcohol, sex, or rock n roll. You just need the speed of your bike! That irrepressible urge to go speeding down a paved thoroughfare while the country wind blows thru your soul on a bright summer morning is absolutely thrilling and unforgettable. Sure, you can have a similar experience on a hybrid, but to do it on a road bike, is absolutely exhilarating.

And That my friend, is from a hybrid lover!

Jaeger99 - thanks for the pic of your trail. thats why I went with the FX, so versatile. and I like you kickstand too, Ive found one on amazon Im going to add. I know, another frowned on accessory . but the FX has a kickstand mounting plate built in doesnt it?

AlleyTom - sweet classic bike. Ive admired it in the post pics of your hybrid thread. funny, I bought the same aerobars today, the T1+. when I was installing (didnt finish) I noticed the elbow pad rests were blocking the view of my gear number indicator. do you have this problem?

WestPablo, no worries, I value any and all opinions! well except those that come in and say "cant add that, its stupid" and run out laughing.

everyone - thanks so much for all of the input !!!!

Have you ridden in the rain? Or do you plan to? The stock pedals that came with my 7.5 FX were pretty slippery in the rain. I totally understand how you don't want to be "locked in." I was like that, too, so I bought WellGo platform pedals with studs. They worked much better than the stock ones. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not yet ready to move to cleats either, so this is what I have ordered for my bike(but haven't yet had a chance to use).

The kickstand aversion from some quarters makes me laugh - particularly in the context of a go-most-places hybrid. When I ride with my daughter we are on and off our bikes a lot, seeing what there is to see off the trails. Yesterday we stopped to feed some ducks. Far preferable to leave the bike standing rather than on the ground or leaned up against a rock or tree. When I'm enough of a super-stud-awesome rider that the weight of the kickstand is slowing me down, you'll all get a memo.

I think they would block your indicators, I've got thumb shifters, friction for the front sprockets, indexed for the rear, but mine don't have indicators on them.

Don't need no stinkin indicators ---- it's easy t look down to see what big ring you are on ----- then, it's either too low, or toooo high - it's never just right when you start out!

Yeah, it's easy for me to say, cause I have indicators ----- but seldom look at them. LOL

I did some clean up. Please stop the bickering and bringing personal arguments to the OP's thread.

I saw a pair of toe clips at REI yesterday and was tempted to get them. I think I may try them one day.

finished the aerobar install today. took it for a quick 1.5 mile spin and found the aerobars to be really nice. so much more comfortable than the front leaning position I remember from army basic training 20+ years ago.

Nice...and the world didn't screech to a halt.

I bought a pair for my flat bar but decided against installing them, my flats are carbon.

That's not bad, might do the same on my 7.2. Would love that position on longer journeys.

No need to rush. It took me about 9 months to venture into the world of clipless pedals. And IMO, clipless pedals aren't any harder than toe clips.

thanks everyone! the bars worked great for me. I went for a 10 mile ride late this afternoon and having the bars was really nice. I actually found my self getting too comfortable on them. I noticed I would stop peddling sometimes when on the aerobars, mostly when crusing at 15-16mph, never while going slow. I think it was from fatigue. I just did 10 miles yesterday and I usually only do two 10 mile ride a week. time to work on my motor now!

It's amazing how whatever bike you're riding gets "faster" when you do just that.

@Jaeger99 What grips are those that you have on the black and red 7.2? Also what bag do you have on it?
