2013 Specialized Vita Comp Hybrid

My first post so please be gentle!

I have just bought by fiancee the above bike, we plan on road riding together most of the time but there will also be times that we will want to go on tracks etc with the kids (no serious off road stuff!).. The standard wheels and tyres won't be suitable for this.

I am considering getting another set of wheels etc so that we could just swap over and use the same bike rather than have to have an second bike...

Firstly, is this possible?
Secondly, what wheel/tyre combo would be recommended?

Appreciate any advice

Steve

Check and see what the widest tires that bike will accept. Then buy something with a minimal tread in that width. Any 36 hole rims will be good "rough use" rims, and you don't have to spend a lot of money on them. Just have them tensioned and relieved at a good LBS.

It still might be a little squirely. These are flat bar road bikes. I'd buy the tires first and try them. Something fat with some nobs. See how they handle before you spend money on wheels.
