Average Speed: don't know, don't care. Faster than many, slower than some; typical 'mid-pack' cyclist who accumulates decent fitness through the year.
Bike: rebuilt 2010 Sirrus Comp
Setup: (see above) custom
Distance: around 7000kms/year
Age: 62
Cycling for: 13 years since taking it up again in 2002

Whats your avg speed?

Depends on where I am. Average can be anything from 6 to 15 mph. Average speed can have so many variables, hills or flat, pavement vs. dirt or gravel, stops for lights and stopsigns, stops for rest, stops for anything (mine is photography or wildlife watching.) Better is to ask, on a flat, what is your typical cruising speed. On flat, i am cruising about 15 mph. On the road, I ride a lot of dirt and gravel roads. Sometimes my downhill is slower than going uphill because I am on the brakes trying to control a slow speed in gravel. Other times I am trudging uphill at 3 mph and flying down the other side at 35 mph.

What are you riding?

I ride a stock 2014 Giant Escape 1, carbon fork, 48/36/26 on front and 11-34 9 speed on the back and stock 32mm tires. I use just about every gear combination except for the extreme cross chain gears.

Whats your setup?

Ah, setup? I guess I already stated my setup above. Well, I added a set of simple aluminum bar ends when I bought the bike, the shop added toe clips on the pedals and a bottle cage when I purchased. I recently added a small under saddle bag (was really surprised at how small it was) and filled it with a spare tube and tire levers. Still need to get a frame pump and I guess I forgot to grab a patch kit, although none of it is useful without a pump to put air in the tires (live in the middle of nowhere and I never see anyone else out when I'm riding to help out with a pump.)

How far do you ride?

Typical daily ride I try to do is 10-15 miles at a steady pace on flat bike trails near work or at home. Rain isn't allowing me to do that much this year. A long ride when my wife isn't working is 20-25 miles. Furthest to date on the road where I typically have 100 ft/mile climbing is 18 miles (2.5 hours it took me) and furthest to date on the bike trail is 30 miles.

Whats your age?

42 in April

How long have you been riding?

Started the beginning of last August dusting off the old 8 year old Walmart mountain bike. Rode August, September, October and a small handful of times in November. Bought the Giant in March and didn't start back up riding until April. So, I have about 6 months total worth of riding.

I can do better than that I think. I may have missed the first handful of rides, but shortly afterwards I started recording the data. July 31st was actually my first ride and my first recorded data is 8/18. I have ridden 866 miles in 71 rides since 8/18 climbing a little over 15,000 feet and burning 37,553 calories according to my bike computer (the lowest calorie numbers I see from all the phone apps)

One more metric, I started at 237 pounds when I started riding, lost down to 219 lb, gained about 5 over Christmas/Winter, and am back down to 217 lb as of last weekend.

Giant escape 1 running on 700x28 gatorskins. My shortest weekday rides are around 18-20miles and on weekends going for 30-50 mile rides depending on my schedule. So far my fastest average speed was 16.6 mph over 2hrs on hilly roads that have many crossings that I need to stop&go. So it's hard to say what effective avg speed would be on flats and no stops.
Though, when I used to live in Rochester, I had a trek 3900 MTB and with stock MTB tires was able to achieve over 17 mph on the 100% flat erie canal trail (only a few road crossings needed over 15 miles). I'm able to go easily over 22mph on flats with my giant right now, it'd be nice try the new ride on a long flat ride.

I'll play as it's a rainy day here in Bar Harbor, Maine

Whats your avg speed? My wife and I ride between 10 and 14 mph

What are you riding? We both have 2014 Giant Escape RX Composites

Whats your setup? Upgraded the drive train to 105's, added Ergon GP3 grips/bar ends, Conti GP4S tires, Specialized saddles and for me a Garmin Edge 1000. If interested you can read more at Yet another new Giant Escape RX Composite owner(s)

How far do you ride? On average between 30 and 40 miles/daily. Due to some health issues we are currently at 4.5k miles this year (716/14).

Whats your age? I'm 65..... wife.... NOT SAYING!!! However, I have CHF (Congestive Heart Failure), an EF (Ejection Fraction) of 20% - 25%, and an ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator). However, drugs and riding are keeping me above ground..... at this point anyway.

How long have you been riding? Both of us met in college and started riding then, the late 60's. However, it wasn't until retirement and moving to Fl 4 years ago that we were able to ride everyday. But our work (both public school educators) allowed us to ride each summer and during vacations.

Whats your avg speed? ~13 MPH on very hilly terrain. Over some non-hilly terrain we lope around at 16 but have been as high as 20.

What are you riding? '14 Giant Escape 1

Whats your setup? Heavily modified. Thomson Stem and seatpost. Crank Brothers Ion2 handlebar, Ergon GC5 grips, Shimano XTR shifter/brake lever combo, XTR v-brakes, XT front/rear derailleur, Deore LX 26/36/48 crank, Azonic 420 platform pedals, Bontrager Nebula Saddle, VDO C1 computer, stock wheels and tires 700x32. The wheels and tires will be next on the upgrade list.

How far do you ride? Depends on the amount of time we have. If I am home (I travel for work quite a bit), we ride between 15 - 20 miles in the evening. On weekends, we go between 30 - 40. We make it fun though. We don't just go ride and see how fast we can go. We ride, look around, have lunch, stop and have coffee. Our weekend rides last a few hours.

Whats your age? I just turned 40 and my partner/husband will be 50 next month.

How long have you been riding? Rode a MTB in college and have just started riding again about 3 months ago after almost 20 years. So I built a MTB and bought the hybrid. By the way, my partner rides a '14 Trek FX 7.4 Disc.

I ride for 30 minutes every day. Eight miles more or less. (if it's raining I ride the 970...it sports Schwalbe Big Apples. If it's windy & dry I ride the Ti road bike. Otherwise it's the hybrid.)

I'm 56.

Since I was 10....paper route got me started.
