Congrats on your new bike !!!!
The info on the thread was very helpful. I was looking for a bike to ride on pavements/light trials as part of my daily exercise. Being a beginner and after a week of search and struggle for the right bike within my price range [which was also 500$ ], i finally choose [yesterday] 2014 fuji absolute 1.7 for its components, weight, value and efficiency [over diamondback trace street hybrid and GT transeo 3.0 which were significantly heavier however were a bit more comfortable when compared to absolutes. But was satisfied to know that this slight difference would be covered by the additional efficiency of Fuji's- dint try Trek and Giant models though :/]. The performance store guys [Redmond,WA] were really nice and helped me find the right size while providing me with various options in other Fuji absolutes. Will get it mostly today or tomorrow. Based on the thread, I am happy that i took the right call in deciding my new bike. Thank you guys. Looking forward to riding it.
PS: I tried a bike [genesis v2100] from Walmart for few days, but as some folks rightly said, the quality of the goods depends on the price you pay. The chain was often off the alignment and disk brake was making scorchy noises most of the time due to bent alignment or something. Overall was not satisfied hence returned it. [hey- but again it was only 170$!]
