Exclamation Picking a Hybrid bike

I have a Norco Storm 9.2 and I got a defective piece I guess so I took it to the bike repair shop and they offered a Norco Storm 9.1. When I phoned the person to get it ready he told me it wasn't only because it was a defective piece but rather I was too rough on it. He said I'm doing things I'm not supposed to be doing. But all I do is ride around my neighborhood?

I guess he is right when he says I should get a hybrid because I just ride around my neighborhood. That being said, which bikes are really good for exercise and riding around the neighborhood? I really like the Norco brand and my budget is $500-700

Thanks!

Please help ASAP I have to go to the bike shop soon

I am very pleased with my Raleigh Misceo 2.0 (disk brakes,) about 30 pounds, but very fun to ride on dirt and hit 40+mph on downhills. About $550.

What the bike shop told you doesn't make sense to me. The Norco Storm is a XC mountain bike. If whatever you're doing is too rough for it, I'd think it would be too rough for a hybrid, too.

What broke on the Storm?

The seat was defective. They replaced it several times but no luck. One day when I was riding it suddenly dropped and i fell off of it, damaging a lot of parts of the bike

This is the first I've heard of Norco. Sounds like a brand to stay away from.

Norco is a reputable company that makes good bikes. The seat broke? Or was it that the seatpost slid down because it wasn't able to be clamped tight enough?

I'm thinking this. Maybe a defect in the collar or it or the seatpost were the wrong size. I can see how having your seatpost suddenly drop could cause a crash, but I can't see a saddle either suddenly falling off or doing much damage.

LOL .... nothing is worse than multiple defective seats. Tough break for sure.
