I should update. I think I underestimated in my earlier post - I ended up with a current tally of over 1600 for the year so I must have been further along at the time. I managed to keep riding consistently through October and into November a bit. Got quite cold then but it warmed up a bit in December so I've managed two or three 15 mile rides at the weekend on my old Diamondback (my Trek is in the basement now, as i don't wish to subject it to snow and road salt). Judging from the weather reports I'm not getting out for a significant ride before the end of the year so I guess that's that!

A lot of great mileage totals here. I'm 59 and took up biking a couple of years ago and love it. This year I rode 1,800 miles with a little here and little there. I don't commute so these miles come when I get on the bike. Also, I live in Vermont and I don't ride in winter or bad weather. Bad weather means temperatures under 45, rain, or snow. Next summer I want to hit the 2,000 mark.

I'm an older guy with extra pounds and when I took up biking a couple of years ago, I was satisfied doing 5 miles around town. Last year I thought rides over 10 miles were good. This year, I wasn't satisfied unless I did at least 20 miles averaging 15-18 mph. I wonder what next year will be. I'm already thinking about how to expand by loops.

I started keeping track when I bought a new bike in May of this year. I have logged 1968 miles with a 2000 mile goal. Just one or two rides away from my goal which I will make.

5,198 miles so far this year. I ride almost every day. 14 miles during the week and up to 20 miles on the weekend.
