Got a flat last weekend story

Well I headed out for a long ride and 2 miles from home I get a flat. I start to work on a fix. find 2 holes wow any ways I patch them ,during this time several groups of road bikers pass or blow by me.then a solo rider rides by ask if I am ok . I say no. He wheels around to see what is up. I say I patched two holes and used up my co2 and can not get the tire to inflate.he takes his pump off his bike pumps the tube only to find several small holes.I have no spare . He gives me his road bike spare a skinny little thing. It blows up the tire enough to get me home.I offer him 20 bucks for his tube and he tells me someone helped him out the week before and that I should pay it up the road.we shake hands and we ride off in different directions into the sunset.i want to say here in Marin county there are so many self centered riders like I said several Groups of riders pass me but this one guy stops.God Bless you masked man there Re still a few nice bike riders out there being of service. He restored my jaded view of humanity.
I now carry a spare tube and pump incase the co2 runs out .just wanted to share the story and say thank you buddy who ever you are. ( could have been an angel)
Oh I am a new rider 2 months now 65 year old disabled Vietnam Vet trying to stay fit. I got a 100% knee replacement last Feb.

I always stop and ask if anyone needs help. About a month ago I saw a woman on the side of the path with her bike upside down. She was trying to figure out why her handle bars were loose. Turned out that her stem bolt was loose. She had no tools and was about to start walking home. I tightened it back up and sent her on her way.

Another time I was riding in the dark along a road with no street lights. I saw a bike go by and heard something fall and hit the ground. I went back and it was a woman who had her light fall off and she was trying to find the parts. I took off my headlight and found everything in the grass and helped her get it back together. She thanked me and said you would think my son would have stopped and seen what was wrong. He was up ahead of her on the trail and didn't have a clue she had stopped.

Last year on the hottest day of the year I saw a guy fall off his bike up the pathway. At least 4 people rode past him without even slowing down. He tried getting up and stumbled a few times. I helped him off to the side of the path and gave him some water. He was with a friend and they had both been drinking and were on their way to a Paul McCartney concert. After drinking some water and resting he was back on his feet and he and his friend started walking.

I can only hope if I ever need help someone else will be willing to assist.

Bit sad how few people seem to feel the need to help their fellow man these days. I think it has grown so out of fashion that often, when help is offered where it seems to be needed, people refuse to take it thinking that it will come with strings.
@Billy k Thank you for your service...
