nice bike! May I ask what handle bars those are?

Monster... I'm going to be a Sirrus owner here very soon. I plan to upgrade some components, but I'm not that knowledgeable with bikes. You seem to have good taste and know a thing or two about components. my budget for upgrading parts will be about $1500. Could you help me pick some parts? what would you do with $1500?

Im no Monster but if i had 1500 for upgrades (plus the bike cost) i would build myself a ride from scratch. Go grab a nice Roubaix frame (or something similar) and get started .

Then why do you want to spend 1500$ modifying a brand new bike?

Which model Sirrus are you planning on buying? I ask because the different models come with different components and some are good just they way they are and others... well.... not so much.

As keniutek suggested, it may not be a bad idea to just buy a frame and start from scratch. However, it seems as though you may not have the knowledge (or tools) to build t he bike yourself so if you have to pay a shop to do it the labor could get a little expensive and it may not make sense.

Just curious, where are you located?

Hello everyone, I definitely see how it seems like overkill and over spending when you look at it from a performance perspective. I am by no means a avid bike rider. The why is simple, aesthetics! Im going to ride this thing until it falls apart. I predict at least a decade based on using it (lightly) maybe 4 months of the year. i know, crazy.

I'm located here in Anchorage, Alaska. Actually I already bought the bike, same as yours to be exact. I would like to post a photo, but due to technical difficulties I cant at the moment. Your second paragraph is spot on. Per my last post I'm doing this more for my pleasure. Ideally I would like to buy all the parts and have everything installed at once. Yes, I would love to gain some performance, but again I'm not doing this to have the fastest Hybrid bike.
With all that being said, I'd like to get started.

- Stem
- Crankset
- Saddle
- Shifters
- Handlebar
- Derailleur
- Pedals

Unless I forgot anything, this is what I'm looking to swap out.

How do you feel this works on flat roads. Are you having to do a higher cadence to keep up with traditional road bikes? I have the same bike and have been either wanting to overhaul it to make it better like you did or sell it and buy a road bike. If I can keep it and it will still be fast after the upgrades then that is cool. Or should I just do all the upgrades and keep the compact crank?

I just got a 2015 Sirrus Elite Carbon disc. I love it but it's a little heavy at 23.11 pounds. Any recommendations for reasonably priced items that will shave a couple / few pounds?

wheels/tires would be the biggest. I just took my 2015 expert from just under 22 pounds to slightly over 19 pounds, but I went a bit wild with mods.

I just weighed the wheels, front: 4, rear: 5.3 so 9 lb 3 oz total! Not trying to get crazy. Maybe I'll do wheels, seat & post, handlebars and MAYBE pedals if I decide to go clipless.

Any recommendations?

Yes, Mavic Crossmax SL. Only 1350 Grams for the set. That's what I used and they are awesome!

Unfortunately cheap and light do not coexist. Maybe look for an older set of Crossmax on eBay?

Just to follow up, did you use an adapter for these since they are thru axle? Which did you use?

They're awesome wheels. I no longer have the Sirrus but I kept the wheels to use on my new bike.
