Rear Derailluer Explosion

Hey everybody. My name's Matt. I hail from NM, but am traveling on Maui right now.
I ride a a Colnago Dream that I wish I had with me.
Instead I rented a Trek 2100 that has given me much pain (see my post in the road bike section)
Anybody every exploded a rear derailluer by standing up on a hill climb?

I never did, but I don't, er, didn't weigh a lot. Something's wrong there. Years and years ago, I got my front wheel caught in a rut and went head over heels, end over end. And a car stopped and the people asked if I was OK, and I was worried that the derailleur was ok.
