Vintage Guy With Vintage Cannondales To Restore
Greetings from north central Florida.
Wife and I had been avid road cyclists, each owning a nice Colnago; then in the mid 1980s moved onto Cannondales with thick aluminum frame upright bikes. In the early '90s stopped riding. Since then, our Biked have been sitting on flat tires, and neglected. OMG! I know.
Now retired. With new available time, I want to restore our Cannondales. And ride, of course.
The aluminum is pitted. Metal is rusty. Tires rotted. Searching the Internet on bicycle restoration I came across this forum. Looking for advice.

C&V forum is the place to post for advice on this. Basically you'll need to completely overhaul the bikes and replace all the consumables.

Nice bikes. I still ride my Cannondale SM500 (bought new a few years before yours) all the time.
The gray bike looks as if it might need very little work---a tuneup and tires (and maybe brake pads, if they've dried out) might take care of it.
Note that the Cunningham brakes on both bikes are rare enough so that you'd probably want an experienced mechanic (preferably at a Cannondale dealership) working on them, even though they're not particularly difficult to adjust.
FYI, the brakes came with unusual brake pads with threaded posts but will take conventional brake pads.
The blue bike probably needs a chain and, if so, possibly a new set of sprockets. Check the cables for rust and replace as needed. Tuneup plus tires, and you should be good to go.
The aluminum and steel corrosion might be fixable with some low-abrasion metal polish.

Based on the information at Mombat, the two bikes are possibly 1987 SM600, with Shimano Deore groupset. Front and rear wheels are the same size, the smaller with 24" and the larger with 26"
