Hi from Paradise
Hey, Folks!
I'm Russ. How goes the battle? Great informative forum. Thanks to the Mods for making it so easy to navigate and catch up again and keeping things friendly.
Getting caught up with things after a decade away from the sport/hobby/activity. Formerly I was a long time rider, but recently returning to regular riding after 10 yr inactive period due to health and resettling. I'm originally from Boston Mass. (land of the late Sheldon Brown, for those familiar with the biking icon). Moved from 'Boston in 99, to s/w CT, then Albany NY, and now Sarasota, FL since 2010.
I've been living in 'God's Waiting Room' for the 5.5 yrs. Hoping that for right now my physical health and my inexpensive refurb of my 1988 Trek 560 road bike allow me to ride again. Bike's rideable, but probably needs an overhaul.
Some 20 years ago, I put decent wheels, Mavic hubs and improved tires on the bike. I also took off those Biopace Chainrings years ago and put on a 52/42 tooth setup. Looking at a different cogset once I figure out what works for me now. Very hot. semi-tropical and flat here, but my conditioning has got a long way to go - not over-weight - just undertrained. Health has stabilized...but have to take it slow until I find what works .
Regards,
Russ

Oh yeah ... I had completed my one-and-only Century bike ride back in 1993. Road in a group ride with the CRW( Charles River Wheelmen, a huge biking group around eastern Mass/so NH).

Hi Bill,
Thank you kindly for the greting. I guess I've still got a flame burning for classic bikes. Admittedly Trek's attracted me 25 yrs ago and do still.
