Ding ding! Another Newb from Chicagoland checks in...
Hi, everyone!
Every time I researched my n+1 bike or looked for cycling tips, I'd run across this forum, and tonight I decided it was time to log in and browse around a little.
I'm a recreational rider - not fast, not slow, but working on improving. Apparently I'm an Athena? So go goddess me!
I mostly ride multi-user paths in the Chicago suburbs, but last May I did the "Bike The Drive" event for the first time, on my flat-bar road bike "Veda."
And then in June I rode 41 miles in the Chicago Tour de Cure - fell twice and still finished, going as hard as I could.
Looking forward to learning more about cycling. Don't worry, I've read "The Rules," and in the next year hope to HTFU.

Welcome to cycling, Ginny. You'll find that you'll have more fun if you disregard The Rules!
