Looking for insight because hind sight is 20/20

Hello All,
New to the bike scene,I just got into riding this year.I have my wife ,Myself and 2 of my 3 daughters that have started riding. My wife and I ride the Giant OCR1's and my daughters ride the TREK 1000 and 1000 WSD. We have rode in a few organized rides together. Biking Bleckley, Wheels o Fire,Tour De Pike, and Brag tune up in Madison. We have been in GA for 11 yrs. Moved from Ky in 94. Thought I could find some helpful tips from some of the Vetran riders. Look forward to some informative conversation. Thanks Rob From Covington Ga !

Welcome, pro-cast, I am also from the Atlanta burbs, Morrow on the southside to be exact. I ride in several rides on the southside in Senoia and Peachtree City mainly. As a matter of fact, I am riding a ride tonight, it is called a novice road ride and is only about 25 miles. We are always looking for others to join us. It starts at 6 p.m. at bikes unlimited in peachtree city. There is a no drop policy in effect and Steve, the ride leader, always makes sure that all people new to the group are well taken care of.

Welcome Rob.

If you're ever looking for new rides or riding partners, check the Southern Bicycle League's ride calendar at www.bikesbl.org.
If you and the family are ever out riding around Stone Mountain on the weekend maybe I'll bump into you. I ride out that way almost every Sat and/or Sun.

JaBike,
Thanks for the invite if I get the oppurtunity I may have to take you up on your offer. The wife and I plan on riding the silver comet trail over into AL this weekend . That is if weather permits. We have been riding rural rodes out near our home in the out skirts of Covington. There is alot of county rodes with little traffic about 15-20 mins away. Very beautiful scenery this time of year. My wifes family somtimes joins us. Anyone is welcome to ride along, the more the merrier. Rob!

Hi RonH,
I was wondering is there any nice place to ride in the Stone Mtn area where the traffic isnt terrible? Possibly the park or somewhere? I am always looking for new places to ride thats enjoyable with my kids without alot of traffic to worry about. Thanks Rob!

Hey pro-cast, you can ride from downtown Decatur to Stone Mountain. Right now about 90% of that ride is on the Path Foundation path and about 10% on low traffic roads. You can start at Sycamore and follow the green and white Path Foundation signs that are present at every turn. It's about a 20 mile round trip and if you want more mileage, it's about a 5 mile ride for each lap around the mountain.

By the way, the ride in Peachtree City last night was an excellent ride. There were about 24 of us. It broke down into basically three groups, one at 17-18 mph, one at about 13-15 mph, and one that was a bit slower.
