Hi from Whidbey Island, WA

So, how do you introduce yourself? I've been riding for about 38 years. I started on a tricycle and I've upgraded to a carbon with two wheels. I get severely depressed in the winter when it freezes because I go riding in the cold and my mustache freezes and breaks off. I have to force myself to think about other things besides cycling, like eating, sleeping, reading a good book(usually has a central character who's really into cycling), maybe enjoying a good meal at a nice restaurant(always aware of the optimum carb/protein level), remembering to go to work.

I'm not an animal. I just ride like one.

I look forward to hanging out with everybody in the forum.

Welcome to BikeForums! I love riding around on Whidbey... although my last excursion over there turned into a bit of a disappointment when one of my riding partners incurred a very nasty blowout that split the casing on his rear tyre and we couldn't find a single bikeshop that was open on a Sunday. We did manage to boot the tyre by overlapping some of his Mr Tuffy liners. Care to share some of your favourite routes around the island?

Hey there, Welcome.

Fidalgo Island is my old stomping grounds.

What's that sign say by the turnoff to the base? "Pardon our noise, it's the sound of freedom" or something along those lines. I always think of that when I hear/see a military jet.

Cheers

Whidbey is a wonderful place to live and ride-lucky you!

A few years back I stayed with a friend from Whidbey Island for almost two weeks. He's a member of the Skagit Bike Club and we rode all over. We did the Seattle to Vancouver ride and then returned to Whidbey where we did the island several times. Recall also getting on a ferry and doing other islands like Lopez... Beautiful area to ride in. Look forward to going back.

Sorry khuon!

I didn't mean to blow off the response. I was in Boise and other parts for a while.

I like to cruise up to the Greenbank store and turn on Bakken, wrapping around to the state park and down to Bush Point, through Mutiny Bay and up and down Lancaster Rd., left to the beach, back up to the highway and then it's anybody's guess where.
Also, I'm digging the rides to Coupeville via Fort Casey then back to Greenbank by way of Houston/North Bluff. By then I could eat my leg, so I stop and do that.

Then ride some more.
