Returning to the road

Hey everyone,
I'm David, turning 70 this December. I had been an avid rider years ago and have re-entered the pastime a few months ago at a leisurely pace. I have a pre 1980 Nishiki International that I have kept in repair for these years - it still works great and I still enjoy it as much as ever. I live in the mountains of North Carolina now and have been taking my bike to the bottom of the hill (quite a hill) where I begin my morning ride. There are a number of hills but none that force me to walk. However the last 3/4 mile climb to my house is nearly impossible for me so I am planning to add an ebike front wheel conversion so that I can pedal when I want and the bike is still the same basically but I will be able to leave from home and skip the ordeal of loading my bike on and off my truck. Thanks in advance for any advise anyone has.

Welcome aboard, DavudH!

I don't know much about ebikes myself, but we do have a forum dedicated to them which you might find helpful!

Welcome to Bike Forums form a 71 y/o kid. Rather than an ebike maybe you need a bike with more gears for climbing. Keep at it and your leg muscles will soon take over and climbing those hills will be a breeze.

As we say on Bike Forums:
Climbing makes you strong.
Distance makes you lean.
Intervals make you fast,
but the wind makes you MEAN!!

And while you're at it stop by the 50+ forum and say hello to the other old timers.
And to find locals to ride with stop by the Southeast Regional subforum.
Have fun.
