I don't know if I have a title for an introduction.

I wouldn't say I'm new to biking, but I've never taken it seriously before. Always ran. Now that has taken a toll on my feet, or I just got older, and I've been riding my bike for a while. Now I need a little advice. I will post on that.

I'm from Missouri. I have a 1980 Schwinn Le Tour and a cheap Mountain bike.

I was getting in 5 miles a day. Over time I have gotten up to about 7 miles a day. 10 today. I just don't have time for much more than that. I am riding to stay in shape. I have no plans on riding a race and no bike groups. Just me peddling away, in a big circle.

I've decided to get a new bike. Now I just need a little direction.

Welcome builderguy to BF.
We can help you with a new bike but first, you should let us know your goals, what type of riding you prefer and physical limitations you might have.

I won't be getting in 50 miles per day. Maybe on a weekend. Right now I have about 30 minutes before work. I will probably stick with 7 to 10 miles per day. You never know. Once I get addicted, like running, I might do more, but I doubt it. I only ran 4 miles per day. For years and years.

My goals.....Only about 7 to 10 miles per day. I don't expect that to change. I don't really have physical limitations. Not exactly. I feel like I could run again, but I don't want to chance it. I have heel spurs, which caused plantar fasciitis. I also have arthritis in my feet.
I don't look at it as a problem. If I ran 5 miles it might be, but on a bike, it does fine.

I'll post about the new bike in the general section.

If you're doing early morning rides, why not leave a little later and bike commute to work. The folks in the Commuting forum can get you started. Its fun.

Have to drive a truck to work.

I'm ok with my 7 miles. This morning I was able to get in 10 miles. Only about 5 minutes longer.
