This is Buckwad from Portland, Oregon, returning to the biking world after a long hiatus. I used to get around town by bike or bus solely, but living in the suburbs, getting an 8-5 job, and laziness changed that for a while. I've made the plunge back into biking for fun and commuting to work now that I'm less than 10km away from home.
Having considered the options for my commuting rig, I decided that I was most comfortable on a traditional MTB frame. So, I've outfitted myself with a 2005 model Trek 4300 w/ Disc brakes and semi-slick tires. There's a lot of rain here, so I also added a set of SKS fenders.
I'm a bit rusty, but the riding has already gotten 100% easier since the first time back. Still looking for tips and diet tricks to keep me well fueled and healthy as I increase my fitness. I've also been considering looking into road-style bikes for longer trips and to mix it up a bit. I'm looking for biking to become more of a passion than just a commute option, in the long run.
