Howdy from Columbus Ohio

Hi peeps - I use to play basketball for exercise but it was taking a toll on my body so stopped doing that. I put on weight so I started cycling this summer. I didn't realize that we have trails all through Columbus and I can get on them right down the street. As of now I'm just riding a few times a week around 20 miles a time. I have a lot to learn about cycling but looking forward to it.

A cheap road bike that I don't want to say where I bought it from. lol I'm looking to buy a entry level road bike around $600. Maybe I'll find a deal on black Friday.

Welcome aboard, good to have another Ohioan join in with the BF family. Best of luck on your bike search, maybe you can get some ideas from a few of the forums as to what best suits your riding. Don't rule out finding a good used, higher level bike, many of us have gotten some great bikes this way, freshening it up and getting it road ready and safe isn't difficult at all.

Most bike shops don't offer black Friday deals. But the 2017 bikes are in the shops now so the 2016 bikes are all on sale. Good luck and let us know what bike you get.

Yeah I was referring online. I can get a 2016 Trek 1.1 for $500-550. Since I'm new to cycling I'm easily pleased. I would think I could get $200 for it a few years from now if I wanted a better bike. I test road a Giant bike. The contend and I liked the bike a lot but I don't want to pay full price.

Not wanting to deceive you, I'm not from up there, just a fan of OSU, or as they like to point out, "The Ohio State University". Big fan of Archie Griffin, too, but I'm dating myself there...

lol @ The Ohio State University. My aunt and uncle moved from Ohio to Florida years ago. They miss going to OSU games. They knew a coach and got into Jim Tressel's room and took a picture sitting in his chair. My body just move from Ohio to Charleston SC. He hates cold weather. At some point wife and I might but hard to leave the family especially when my parents have some health issues.
