Howdy from CA

Howdy folks!
I'm Scott from wild and crazy California. I've been cycling for five years now and have lurked here a few times.
Figured it was time to become a member.

By some miracle, I've got somewhere around 11,000 miles ridden, and last Thursday I had my first solo riding flat. After fighting my Gatorskin Hardshells on that ride, I think I need to switch tires to some that aren't so hard to take on and put on my rims without fear of pinching the tube. I love the tires and can't say how many times I've gone through glass without incident, but it sucked replacing a tube in the wild.
Any suggestions on tough tires with a softer sidewall?
Thanks, and thanks for letting me in on this forum!

Mahalo! As far as flats, 11,000/5 years is impressive. I think that qualifies you for your 5 year coin. I'd stay with the gators and just do some practice taking the thing on and off. If you really want to change them, search the forum for threads on quality road tires.

Welcome to BF!

I really like everything Schwalbe makes, and they don't seem as bad to get off and on like those are.

Welcome to Bike Forums. It's never fun fixing a flat along the roadside but many folks on here like Continental Grand Prix 4000. I've been riding on them since 2004. Not that hard to get off and back on. I average one flat per year or so.
