I didn't see this thread and just started posting away in others, I feel really rude now.
Anyway, I'm based in the UK and love all types of mountain biking, although as I start to get older I'm finding that it hurts more when I bail, and that it takes me longer to get up, so I'm pretty much sticking to XC and shying away from DH. My fiancee has recently taking up the sport as well so she's a calming influence when we're on the trail together.

Welcome to BF.
Don't feel bad. Many folks post on other forums and never stop by to introduce themselves.
When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking. — Arthur Conan Doyle
