Hi from sunny Galway Ireland
Hi people,
Have been browsing on the forum for some weeks now, what a great mine of information - hopefully I can also share some of mine with you in the near future.
I've been cycling since I can remember, starting with tricycles at about 4 years old. I remember cycling to primary school, first with my mother and later on my own, on a 1 speed 24" wheel Raleigh, like a scaled down roadster. Later graduated to my first geared bike, an Armstrong 5 speed tourer bought second hand. Growing up in the country had it's advantages, my brother & I could disappear for hours on our parents didn't have to worry.
Now living & working in Galway city in the west of Ireland and still enjoying the bicycling lifestyle. I commute to work pretty much every day, 11-12 miles round trip. Also do most of the grocery shopping and errands by bike. Currently daily ride is a frankenbike built on an 80's Raleigh lugged steel racer frame with upgraded bottom bracket, alloy wheels, Brooks B-33 big springy saddle, Nexus 4 speed hub gears and some swept back roadster style bars, it is just the thing for our potholed streets ;-). Also run a Brompton L3 for when I travel by train, and a Barracuda flat bar road bike for weekends (currently up for sale, need space for a new Marin I have just ordered.
Ok bye for now,
Fergus
