Hello from Illinois
Just dropped in. I am 54 and just retired last august. I am in what I would call my third year of seroius riding. I have a bike trail that goes in front of my house on Missisisppi River. I did complete my first century last fall. I am lucky in that the century ride starts and ends a mile from my house. I like to build and work on my own bikes. Have small part time bussiness/ hobby finding old bikes fixing and reselling.Road bikes all last year , but this year I built a custom mountain bike up with city tires for bike path and county roads . I tend to ride highways and county back roads more.Nice rolling hills to build my character.

Other than being about 7 years older, you sound like a carbon copy of myself. Welcome from Mark Bentley in Winchester, Il. 1-1/2 hours north of the Katy Trail.

Welcome to BF.
Lucky devil. I'm 60 and "may" be able to retire in a few years unless I win the lottery.

Welcome Skullo! If you're speaking of the plant that some buildings are being torn down, maybe I have seen you on the trail. But if you ride the roads, then maybe not.

I have not gone past Hampton yet, but I am ready to explore farther north. I kinda like the little hill by Campbell's Island. Several friends have suggested I start in Rapid City.
