Hello from Somerville, MA (and MIT)
Hi all from Somerville (home) and MIT area (work). I'm trying to get back into cycling. I used to commute by bike, but now walk to take my son to day-care. I'm hoping to get a second bike to park at MIT to take rides during the day.
Cheers,
Ray Jones

Welcome Ray,
I'm from Mass also.....Berkshire County, out West. I have a daughter in Somerville (Walnut St). That's a great city, seems to be going through a transition of sorts. Kind of like North Adams, where I live. Actually, she's in the process of moving to Cambridge .
The only biking I've done out there is the Minuteman Rail Trail. The roads have a little too much traffic for me, I tend to be a bit of a country bumpkin.

Yeah, the roads take a while to get used to. I've started biking in the evenings (9pm and later) to avoid the traffic. The weather's been perfect for it.
I live near the trail. It's a great place to go when I'm towing my son around. I'm not comfortable taking him on the roads very often. Hopefully they'll extend it out of Davis Square to Boston before too much longer.
I haven't spent much time around Berkshire, other than the one time I camped out there to attend a Tanglewoods concert series a few nights. I hope to do that again soon, maybe combined with some bike touring. It's a beautiful area.

i love the berkshires, my wife and i go to tanglewood every year, trying to go more often than once a year but it's pretty far and the traffic on the pike in western mass is insane. took us almost 4 hours to get home last time because of a traffic jam of doom. but it is so gorgeous and peacefull out there. some of my best memories are from out there.
