Thanks for welcoming me aboard

Hi all. My name is Lee, and I live in Arcata, CA (way north, on the coast, close to Oregon). Thus far I've been exclusively a mountain biker, but am looking to add a road bike to the arsonal. My current contenders for a space in the garage are the Trek 2300 vs. Trek 5200. Any feedback/suggestions from those with more experience would be welcome! Thanks.

Hi Lee and welcome to the forum. I ride a trek 1000, so the bikes you are looking at are way out of my league. Good luck in your road riding endevors.

Hi Lee and welcome!

I also only rode mountain bikes until this year. I bought a 5200, and I really enjoy this bike. You should ride both bikes (if you haven't already), and make a decision.

I can't image that you'll go wrong with either choice though!

Welcome to BikeForums Lee.

The 5200 and 5500 were on my list of possible choices when I was looking for a new road bike about 1-1/2 years ago, but Litespeed  won out.

If I'm ever allowed to get a third bike for the stable I'll probably get a 5500 or 5900.
