Hello

Hello, I'm from Cumberland, Rhode Island. I just discovered these forums. I have actually just recently gotten into biking much more than I used to be. I have a Giant Boulder SE 26" wheels and a 21" frame mountain. I know many of you probably have highly expensive bikes, but this was a nice aluminum bike, RST shocks, and just all around basic parts. It's no where near top of the line, but it gets the job done nicely. I'll eventually be replacing more of the parts with better ones as the bike progresses through it's life. A picture of my bike from Giant's site is attached. I have changed the pedals to Pr1mo blue pedals. I'm not sure exactly what they're called. The other difference between my bike and the pictured one is that the preset knobs on the shocks are gray, not red.

Anyway, is there anything special I should know around here or what?

There is one question I've had for some time, what does it mean when a bike gets so many inches of "travel?" I believe it has to do with how far the shocks travel all together, but I'm not sure.

Heya, Celeron,

I can't answer any of your questions, but thought someone should say hi and welcome. ;)

Things to know around here? Pretty much the usual for any forum. Over time you'll get to know the personal idiosyncrasies of the various inhabitants. Some are easier to get along with than others, as in any case.

Hi CeleronXL welcome to the forum

That looks like a great bike to me. Sure wish I had one. Gorgeous colours too.:)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "shocks" but as far as total inches of travel, you simply take the total number of "miles" of travel and multiply by 63360 for total "inches" of travel. IE a Metric Century = 62 "miles of travel"* 63360 in/mi = 3928320 in. of travel.

:D

Welcome!!

Yeah, I love the colors. :) It comes in two colors schemes and the red one looks really nice too. I think it looks better in real life when it has a reflection in the blue.. looks more real sorta.
