Hello from Minnesota

Hello!

My name is Linda. I have been mostly lurking in BF for several months.

I started Biking two summers ago. Both my husband (aka: Cheeseflavor, aka: Steve) and I are hooked

I have gone through 4, no 5, or is it 6(?) bikes in the past two years; mainly upgrades as my biking skill level tries to increase Currently I ride a brand new 2006 Specialized Ruby Comp....OH YEAH!!!! I just need all the snow to melt so I can get the Ruby out on the real road!!!!! Go Away Snow!

Steve and I started biking when we rented an old steel-framed tandem at a local camp ground two years ago - the rest is history!

Our first year biking we managed about 2000 miles (I think?) and were just amazed that we made it that far. This year we are at 4600+ and still counting. I guess you can say we are hooked We have lost an entire human size in weight between the two of us. I have never felt better in my life!

I enjoy biking and cannot imagine life without biking. I especially enjoy biking with my best friend, biking partner and soul mate....my Husband, Cheeseflavor

Keep on Biking and remember - "Rubber Side Down - It's Better That Way"

Welcome, Linda. Come on down to the Atlanta area. We don't have any snow and the biking is good this time of year. And, if you must, bring Cheeseflavor with you.

Oh, by the way, welcome. I will be at about 7600 miles by the time this year is over. But, I guess part of my mileage is because we seldom have weather that is too cold or two snowy for riding. The only riding I have done in Minnesota is on the Munger Trail and some offroad up in the BWCA.

Welcome to the forums. I too and eagerly awaiting the snow to melt in Minnesota. I don't like biking in the snow and ice, no matter what equipment I have. I think I live in the wrong state

Did you buy your bike from Erik's? Do they give you a free fitting?

Thanks for such a nice welcome shoerhino. You located in the twin cities? Western 'burbs for us. Can't beat the great rolling hill roads with 6ft. wide shoulders!

Yup...Steve (my hubby, just bought my xmas present - 2006 Ruby Comp at Erik's. Yes, got a free bike fit. The customer service was A++++. This is my 4th, 5th....hmmm?..... 6th bike purchased at Erik's in the past 2 years.

Chessflavor and I have been dreaming about warmer weather year round.

Atlanta....I'm jealous

Cmon - today was awesome weather!

And Erik's? I've never set foot in one, and I don't intend to. There are a lot of better stores around the cities. A LOT.

Just a question... how would you know if you never stepped foot in one?

Steve

Yes, yesterday and today the weather ROCKS!!!

In regards to Erik's...If you have never stepped foot in one how would you know if they are good or not???

I can tell you I purchased a $2800 bike from Erik's. After about five months of riding it I figured the geometry was just not right for me, no matter how I adjusted the bike. They gave me a FULL refund and some extra perks. I don't think customer service gets better than that!! Sure, all LBS have pros and cons, but when it comes to doing the right thing when that much money is involved, Erik's wins hands down!!!! Erik's will get my business every time!!! I highly recomend the Mpale Grove Store and the Staff, Dan, Bob, Andy and all!!!

Erik's is a pretty good store. I've been eyeing a Roubaix and was wondering if they perform a free fitting when you buy one. I see fit kits hanging around the store but I've never seen anyone get fit.

I'm amazed to hear that they gave you a full refund for your bike. That is very cool... I've purchased from lots of stores locally and Erik's has always treated me well.

HereNT - What stores do you prefer? When I have free time, I like to visit some of the smaller stores in the area just to see what they carry and how the staff is.

Yup, they sure do give a free fitting with the purchase of a bike. If you want a really technical fitting they have a guy at the St. Louis Park store that gets out the laser lights and all! They charge for that fitting though.

BTW... the Roubaix is a great bike. My husband (Cheeseflavor) has an '05 Comp and loves it! He has a few pics of it posted around the forum.

Yup, full refund! They have been great to us!
