Hello Community
I was more than pleased to find this site and see that there are so many avid cyclist. I have been cycling on and off for years but as I approach my 45th birthday I realized that I may have seen the first half of my life slip by...(Our mutal recognition of mortality does that).
I have always been in moderately good shape but I've packed about 225 pounds on my 6'4" frame. For me that is 30 pounds too much. In addition I have battled pre-hypertention for several years. Since the military tore up my knees and ankles, (jumping out of planes will do that), the bicycle was the obvious choice. Lucky for me my hard work has afforded me an income where I can spend some dough on my pursuits and I live in an area of New England that is beautiful and safe to ride through.
So here's my specs...
Age 44
height 176"
weight 225
Married 24 years
Two daughters both in college
bike - Specialized Roubaix Elite Triple...linked to a bike computer and heart rate monitor. (Got all the Gadgets)
Goals
To be able to do my age in pushups
Get my weight back down to 195
Reduce both my resting heart rate and BP
...And meet lots of new friends to hammer around the road with.
Thank you for building this electronic community and I hope to receive lots of advice and support from its members.

Welcome to BF.
Wow! You're TALL. I think you mean 76"
How cares about push-ups? That sounds like military talk. Climbing hills is what counts.
Hills are your friends and are the key to dropping the extra pounds.

Must have been thinking metric
I remeber your quote about hills being my friend the next time I start hurling at the top of one. But hurling will also cause weight loss...maybe you are on to something!
