Welcome to Bikeforums, Seawhip. Hope to continue hearing from you on the various boards. I haven't been to Chicago, but I've been to many other major cities like Detroit, San Francisco, Little Rock, New York, Philedelphia, Boston, and Portland ME where I currently live. Glad to know you've made yourself at home here on MDI. There's plenty of snow trekking here, too.

Now that you're here, you might wish to put yourself on the map as other BF members have. If you wish to do so, go to www.frappr.com/bikeforums.

See you around the boards. May you have plenty of good riding.

Thanks for the welcome, Powerhouse - Portland ME, WOW - been there many times when enjoying K'Port and my perennial trip to LLBean - before moving to Chicago last year, almost moved to Cape Elizabeth, even looked for a house there - anyway, thanks

Welcome to Chicago and Illinois. Frankfort is way south - "halfway to Kentucky". If you have questions about cycling in the area, holler. You should be able to find some country roads not far from you. IDOT has some good maps that may help: http://www.dot.state.il.us/bikemap/STATE.HTM Read in your profile you have a Safari - how do you like it? Just curious, as I work for REI.

Hi Seawhip,

Welcome, and greetings from another south 'burbanite

My wife and I rode thru Frankfort yesterday. We just started the Grand Illinois Trail , and our first segment was The Old Plank Road Trail.

I notice you're new to the area. You might be interested in checking out Folks On Spokes, a large, active club in the south suburbs. Their March meeting is this Thurs in Flossmoor, and their 25th Annual Easter Ride is set for April 9.
