Newbie from New Hampshire

I've been lurking here for the past 6 months, so I thought it was time to join in the fun. I started riding again last year when I found a Huffy Mtn. bike dumped on my property. a new derailer (<$25) and I was riding. can't believe I forgot how much fun it is. By the end of last summer I bought a Lemond Big Sky. I am very glad I listen to my LBS. They explained the difference in bikes and I went with a relatively low end road bike over a high end Hybrid. Now I even have Biking goals. 1st to lose 20lbs and 2nd to ride 80 miles round trip to work on a few Saturdays by mid summer. I just need to ride as often as possible, See you on the roads.:)

Welcome to the forum!

This is quiet impressive and very resourceful. I think also you have made a sensible choice of bike and your LBS' was great advice.

Thanks for the link, Cycliste, I will check that out. I was glad My first interaction with My LBS was successful. although it is important to do a lot of homework whenever you are spending that kind of money. (or any money for that matter)

Sorry for the double post, I thought it died. As long as I'm here...

Rye Beach NH is a great place to ride.

Sorry I'm a little late in the reply. I live in Concord, I would love to ride in Rye. I may ride to Rye some day. more likley drive part way and ride there it is beautiful.

When I ride in Rye, I usually go part in Portsmouth. My favorite however was my son & I riding from home, through Portsmouth, Rye, Hampton Beach, Seabrook & into Mass! Three states...woohoo. We got picked up by my wife in Amesbury, was only about 36 miles but far enough for me.

That sounds like a fun ride. I love driving that route 1a. I am going to try at least part of that this summer. drive to Portsmouth and ride down 1a till I've had enough then back. My comfort zone is only 20 miles right now but increasing quickly. I would love to be able to ride from Concord to Portsmouth and have my wife meet me there in Portsmouth. It's a fantasy right now
See you on the road:)

Look for a silver Lemond with someone who clearly just got new clip in shoes:eek:
I literally just bought the shoes and was planning on a ride today. still have never used them, decided I'd go to work and take a day off when the sun is out. I hope to see you around.

Actually, for a nice ride in Rye, park at Odiorne Point State Park. There are actually 2 entrances, we park at the one just over the little bridge on 1A. Park in the lot before the gate & you won't have to pay. There is a MUP that takes you to the beach (1/2 mile?).

Hi, Shnebs! This is Powerhouse welcoming you from Portland, ME! The goals you mentioned sound admirable. Keep at it and you will soon realize them. I have to admit that I have my own as I've just taken my bicycle out of winter storage and started riding again. First, I hope to be doing rides of at least 20 miles or more, spend some time training on Mount Desert Island, and doing the Trek Across Maine.

Now that you're here, you might like to put yourself on the map. While the records show there are over 50,000 members, a link has been started of a world map showing all the members who are interested in posting themselves on it. The link is as follows.

Hope to see you around the boards. Good luck and good riding.

Powerhouse
