Hello, new member looking for information
Hi - I am buying my fiance a bike as a wedding gift so I will be posting in the hopes of getting some feedback on bikes. We live in Queens, NY. My fiance used to ride a lot but hasn's in several years. I know he'd like to get back into it.

You should check out the 'road bike' forum. It has lots of threads on topics like 'which bike should I buy'?
Good luck! |
We have a 05 C-dale tandem. Love it! Nice componet package, Ultegra, XT, TruVativ, Avid discs....Have a L/S good fit, comfortable, smooth ride.

you should get him a gift certificate, no other way to get him something that fits well and meets his needs/desires.

You might want to check out old Bicycling magazines. They have a feature about someone with a certain budget that wants a bike for a specific purpose. I normally don't agree with their selections as the specific bike they push seems to be based on advertising dollars received from the bike company and whose turn it is. What I do like is that they bring up a lot of good questions and points that you might not think of asking about and are worth considering in your personal decision.
I have always found that the most important factor in selecting a bike is the bike dealer and what they are capable of in case you ever need their services. I was looking at a bike once and someone came in for a fairly easy fix to their bike and they were told it would be 6 weeks. Another dealer told my son it would be 2 days to fix a flat when he was on a ride and 10 miles from home. Obviously I won't buy anything from either one. |
