    New Rider

    Hi,
Yes, I am a newbie to your site. I loved riding my Nishiki International (which I still have) as a teenager (I am now a 44 year old middle aged woman...time flies!!!) and I wanted to get a new bike so I can start riding again. I am looking to get into better shape and maybe lose a few pounds in the deal, too.I know that I will only exercise if I do something I will enjoy, such as riding a bike. I went to my local bike shop and tried many of the bikes there. I really liked the Jamis Explorer 1.0 and ended up with that. (in baby doll pink , no less.) I took my first ride yesterday, huffing and puffing up the hills all the way, but it felt so good to be on a bike again !! Sore legs and all ! I was a little embarassed about being seen on the pink bike, but like the guy at the bike store said...."life is short...have fun !!""..so, what the heck..pink it is..

First of all, let's get the howdy and welcome to the forum out of the way - Howdy! Welcome!

Now we can get to some serious stuff. 44 is not middle aged. That's a young chick age. And pink bikes were made for young chicks, so just go enjoy. Now, if anyone sees you, you will have to pretend like you are not huffing and puffing since pink bikes require you to act cool, calm, and aloof at all times.

Let me just echo the words of the bike store guy "life is short...have fun!!"

Welcome. Pink is a hot color! It demands a certian level of coolness. Now just look for shorts and Jersey the match or compliment you new bike.
