Hello, pleased to meet you, I'm banana seat

    Well hello there!

I'm looking to get back into riding (bikes, that is) after a long break. I enjoy riding (horses), watching movies & sports, and laughing. I'll be lurking and learning about mountain bikes and maybe GPS systems.

The last time I rode a bike regularly, I still looked pretty much like my avatar.

Back then I really wanted a pony, but my parents thought a 60's era stingray a little more practical. More often than not I could be found "galloping" up and down the road, and "jumping" over the tree roots that pushed up the sidewalk. Thanks for the memories, Dusty. You were the best darned bike-pony a girl could ever have.

Later, but still pre-driver's license, I rode my brother's hand-me-down Ross 10 speed to get to my job after school & weekends (taking care of horses!) Wow, how bikes have changed since then.

I do have horses and ride them lots. I even used to ride my horse to work back when I was working at a local dairy farm. Although horseback riding is a lot harder than it looks, I'm looking to add more aerobic work to the mix. Plus I can scope out new trails without having to worry about getting dumped by my horse as he spooks and takes off on a spin-and-bolt. Hopefully.

    See you on the trails!

Welcome, Banana Seat. I tried riding a horse a couple of times as well. But, I could never find the pedals to get him going. So, I guess I will stick to my bike.

Taking a tip from Siu Blue Wind, I too am typing a lengthy passage of text down here to demonstrate the enormous amount of space available should one wish to use it-- in sharp contrast to the avatar text above this part.

    1) LOVE your avatar! I remember that episode... Jan lost her glasses and smashed into the surprise family portrait. Hehehehehe

    2) My dad had a Ross 10 speed. I still get all nostalgic over that bike. It hits a sweet spot with me.

    3) Wow... I don't know very many people that remember that quote from the little girl trying to remember everything she needed to get from the store: "A loaf of bread, a quart of milk, and a stick of butta". I use that phrase every now and then, and I still get blank looks. Good on ya!

    Welcome to bikeforums too!
