Howdy! Newbie From Houston, TX

Hey Ya'll

I have done a lot of supported touring over the past twenty years (numerous trips with Backroads, RAGBRAI, Illinois Great Rivers Ride, Katy Trail Ride, several MS 150s) but I have decided to take the plunge this summer and do a self-supported ride. I am going cross-country, a combination of Adventure Cycling's Northern Tier, Lewis and Clark, and Great Rivers routes, leaving early July from the west coast.

One of the main things that convinced me to make some serious plans are the people in the biking community, found on websites like this one and crazyguyonabike.com. The wealth of knowledge being shared is truly amazing, hopefully I can add to that. I have been inspired by the stories from people who have lived their dreams.

Between now and July, I'll be breaking in the new bike and saddle on training rides before summer gets too brutal here, hah!

Welcome to the forum. Better hurry up with those training rides. Seems like summer is already here.
