Newbie from Dallas

Greetings, I purchased my first road bike (Specialized Allez Elite) the end of May and have realized that I have a new passion. I had my hip replaced a year ago and have been looking for a new acitivity I could do since running is now out. I have really enjoyed it so far and am training for my first century ride the end of August (Hotter N' Hell). Have found some great info here so far and looking forward to finding more.

Welcome to the forums. There are quite a few DFW area riders lurking around here. What part of Dallas are you in? When and where do you ride? I live near the Richardson location of Bike Mart and a few of us meet there on weekends for early morning rides, not the organized RBM rides. Good luck at the HHH, did it a few years back and it was a blast.

I actually live in Richardson as well. I am about 2 miles from RBM. I have been riding on Tuesdays with Greater Dallas Bike Club (meeting at the REI on LBJ and riding between 20 - 27 miles) and on Saturdays I have joined the organized rides at the RBM. Usually go over to White Rock on Wed and Thur as well. I would love to join y'all in the future....I am working my way up the distance ladder. What is your avg speed when you guys ride? Just curious to see if I would be fast enough to keep up! Thanks for the note!
