Hello from beautiful Ann Arbor!

Hello, All!

I'm new to cycling this summer, other than the bit of cycling I did as a kid

I'm hooked to the sport and hope to get up to speed with commuting and fitness quickly!

Welcome to BF! Don't rush the fitness, just enjoy the ride and the fitness will follow naturally. Check out the stickies in the Commuting forum for advice and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Are you a U of M student? I know several, and I've worked extensively in Ann Arbor doing construction. Still can't find my way around the place. Ann Arbor is a maze.

Heah. I will be in Ann Arbor Oct 17. I have no bikes there, anymore. Got a bike I can bumb.? Be happy to be your guide.
Head out Ann Arbor Dexter trail along the Huron River. Great ride. Ann Arbor is not so bad, for a city with a maze of one way streets.

Michigan is suppose to be the in the top two states with paved bike trails, any trails close by that you know of? I ride alot of the rail/trails here in Ohio the other of the top two states, and there are hundreds of miles of trails here, and they are working on a rail/trail called the Ohio to Erie trail from the Ohio river in Cincinnatti to Lake Erie in Cleveland.

Hey, sorry I've been in California for a while...

to:

j'ssarian - thanks, I'll try and not rip my legs off in an attempt to shave seconds

michigander - nah, I'm actually in highschool. I agree, Ann Arbor is a mess with one way streets and stuff, but you get used to it

Cyclozealot - I have a 10 year old Nishiki, but it is rusting and the drivetrain is really half dead. You'd be better off with something from a garage sale or something... sorry - Oct 17th I'll actually be in school so I probably won't be out cycling for fitness as much as usual (I'm in swimming too)

Drissel - Trails? Actually there are a few "rambles" (short rides) around Ann Arbor, but I usually don't do trails as much, sorry :/ if you head on roads up north of ann arbor (take Nixon north until you reach pontiac trail, then you can continue northeast for miles and miles), you are in beautiful farm areas

Yup, that is about it

Hey, I'm also from the deuce.. which high school? which year? Maybe I know you... I highly reccomend the Huron River Drive(Ann Arbor to Dexter) ride, although the motorists along are insane. You'll get used to the roads quick, it's not too big.
