stiff steering

Newbie here.
I recently purchased a Surly Crosscheck and the steering seems stiff. I have an old Bianchi Sport SX and the steering is really loose, so maybe Im just not used to a correct feel. I was reading a past post that said that the wheel should turn when you lean the bike. The surly does not. Is that something that should be adjusted? If so how?
Thanks

Hi, welcome to the forums.

You say 'recently', is it still under dealer warranty? If so, I'd take it to the selling dealler and ask the mechanic his thoughts. Talk the folks in the mechanics forum for their thoughts too.

Good luck.
