I find myself 51 years old, in declining health and dreaming about the good old days. Just got back on a bike this last month and had a ball. Hope to make it a habit again.

Welcome to BF.
1. You gotta change your user title, "Old and in the way". I'm 61 and I'm not old and I try not to be in anyone's way.
2. Stay away for the 50+ sub forum. Just "old" people there.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Welcome!
I took up biking in early August when diagnosed with T2 diabetes. My sitting pulse rate has dropped from mid 80's to the mid 60's. I try to ride at least 10 miles per day.
If you do this you will be back in shape in no time!

I have alot of outdoor activities, including playing tennis, walking, shooting basketball and riding my bike. I also have a crossbar that I work out on 3 or 4 times a wk. I definitely think that riding my bike is the best form of exercise. I feel so good when I get done. I think this is the best thing an older person could do to get back in shape and feel young again. I have my mom out trying to get her to ride at the age of 61. She has had open heart surgery twice and needs to exercise and watch what she eats, but let me tell ya, she eats whatever she wants. But at least I have got her on a bike now. I hope riding keeps me young for along time. I do it because I enjoy mountain bike ridiing, but also to keep me in shape. Good luck.
