I've been biking mountain bikes as a way to get to the store or around town since I was little, but now that I'm in college and have a car I'm just now getting into bikes for real hobbyist and enthusiast riding.
My name's Charlie, I go to school in Greensboro, NC and I have two bikes, though I'm trying to sell my secondary bike.
I just did a community ride the other week in town and am biking more and more, not just to classes.
Over the summer I had a chance to demo a Trek 1500 Discovery which was a rocketship, really opened my eyes to just how much faster a road bike is in the right conditions.
I bought a used Murray Adagio 10-speed and put newer brake levers and what not on it, but the wheels were very wide and small and it just didn't have that crisp, taught, rigid road bike feel- nor the speed!
I was happy with it until I saw my current bike, a pink and white fade Nishiki Sport 12 speed, with shimano drivetrain, shuguino crank and diacompe brakes. I don't know what year it is but I hope to figure it out by searching around the classic and vintage.
I am really getting into biking and hope to use the vast resource of bikeforums!
I'm off to read the FAQs now.
