Chicago girl
Hi, I picked up biking a few years ago and every year it seems I get more hooked.
I've loved participating in invitational rides on Sunday mornings and have tried to get out to more of them now that I'm no longer working weekends.
This will be the first winter I'm planning to commute by bike. For this task I've resurrected my old Schwinn ten-speed from my teen years, though I'm also considering just picking up a used single speed.
Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has to say and pick up some tips and tricks from all of you.

Welcome bike_ema! Check out the Commuting forum for lots of info on lights and tips on what to pack on your commute. There's a couple stickies right at the top that should provide a ton of info.

Your old Schwinn makes a PERFECT used single speed Head over to the SingleSpeed&FixedGear (SS&FG) forum and check out threads relating to conversions. I have an early 80s Schwinn Le Tour that was a 12 speed when I bought it and is now one speed

not quite looking to convert "my" schwinn.... too attached to how it is now I guess. But, I wouldn't mind converting another or fixing up a used SS.
