Hi, newbie here, looking for advice.

Hello all! My girlfriend and I are planning on upgrading our bikes in about a month. I have an old (1990) bike with campy parts, but it's had it's best (ahem ) days. She has a boat anchor mountain bike. We plan on taking cycling seriously this year and would like to start to get into some long rides. I've been looking at my local bike shops and we've looked seriously at the GIANT OCR C1's, but also online from rscycles at the Tommaso Mondial. From a parts perspective they're both very similar. Does anyone have any thoughts on these choices? Thanks

I've heard good things about the Giant's and they're not that pricey . . . don't know much about the Tomamaso. My best advice would be that if you think you're serious about cycling don't start out with a l lower-end bike (and it sounds as if you're not!); you'll just wind-up being caught in the "upgrade mode" and probably wind-up spending just as much . . .

Giants are good bikes but there are lots of other good bikes out there. Test ride as many as you can, get the one that feels the best. If you and your gf aren't comfortable, you won't ride.
