    Hello from Northern California

Not new to cycling but new to this forum...liking what I've read so far.

I ride a '06 Specialized dolce comp, and stoke a Raleigh Coupe tandem with my hubby, who *is* new to cycling. We bought the tandem in Oct. '06 so he could share the fun. We're planning our first tandem century next month in Palm Springs, then Solvang in March, and probably the Chico Wildflower in April. By then the really good flying weather will start, and he'll go back to hang gliding & I'll spend more time solo.

Last year my girlfiriend & I rode 5 centuries -- we love 'em -- hope to do one a month through October.

Looking forward to lots of bike talk!

Hello Red Rider, if you haven't yet found the NoCal regional forum, look here:

    http://www.bikeforums.net/northern-california/

I see you are a fellow orchid fancier--do you have any particular favourites? I'm a pleurothallid fancier myself.

Oh, to stay on topic--one of my many bikes is a Specialized Dolce Elite, in a 44cm.

Thanks, LL. I've posted under "Tandems" before this; just reading & learning as I go.

I have a dendrobium on piece of cork that a friend gave me in '89. That was my first orchid. Usually twice a year, at least once a year, it flowers & it's very lovely. It's reliable, unassuming, undemanding; what's not to like?

I have a hybrid I picked up at a Trader Joe's last year that's very bizarre looking, with a delicate scent, I think it's a Brassidium hybrid.

I have no rhyme or reason when I purchase an orchid -- if it's a color or form I don't already own, and it strikes my fancy, then it has to be mine.

    Thanks for the regional heads-up.

Your Dendrobium's quite pretty, a bit hard to see in the small photo, but then again, this is a bike forum, not an orchid forum ! We must stay on topic...
