hi from west side of the chi
hi, new to this forum, will be looking for lots of bike mechanic and winter biking help.
I've been riding since I was a little girl, though I've only started bike commuting in the city for a year now. My main bike is a woman's 3-speed Murray road bike. I'm into fixing up cheap bikes because I'm poor, so I've collected a Huffy sun country cruiser, Schwinn World Sport, Diamondback Mountain bike, and my beloved Murray.
I partake in Critical Mass every month and use my bike to commute between the north, west, and south sides of chicago for work, home, and school.
this will be my first full winter bike commuting, it has been an easy one so far.

Hello greypele, if we get you good at the mechanics of bicycles, you may look at picking up a nice older steel bike (well, other than the Murrays). Take a look at the Classic & Vintage forum for tips on that! Lots of people joining up from Chicago this week for some reason.
Anyway, you may wish to check out the Great Lakes regional forum:

And I would guess you've already found the Bicycle Mechanics forum...
Welcome to BF!

hey greypele,
I'm from the west side of Chicago as well. What a coincidence. I honestly don't know any women cyclists or cyclists in general who live on the west side. It's pretty desolate compared to the rest of the city. From what i know, most of them live on the north side. Maybe I'll see you around. Take care.
