Say Hey and Hello name's Harlan

Iím a 49 year old chef presently living in the Hudson Valley and working in NYC. About four years ago I quit a 2 1/2 pack a day smoking habit and took up running and working out at the gym. The running and workouts took my mind off the withdrawal symptoms in the beginning and of course I became as addicted to the exorcise as I was to the cigs and dam I worked or ran 7 days a week, yes I over did it all and messed up my legs badly. I soon needed a new outlet for all that built up tension from the hard work week. I tried all sorts of machines at the gym with out much satisfaction then a friend of mine, an avid rider who I meet on my daily commute talked me into trying bikes. So not being able to run much any more after the stress fracture problem in my shins I borrowed his Bianchi Cross for a ride or two in May 06 thinking it would be a short lived distraction. Not so, I ended up buying the bike in June and riding just over 1100 miles in 6 months of weekends before the cold forced me back indoors to the gym. For a X-Mass present I bought myself a 2006 Roubaix. I hope to get in 3000 miles this coming season and moving to the warm weather soon we shall see. Seems the bike bug has caught me. I will be 50 Sept. 2nd so I guess I should check out that over 50s board though not technically 50 yet and I will be relocating to the Hill Country south of Austin TX in June so I will keep an eye on the South West Forum as well. Should be some nice riding down there and I could always ride up to Dripping Springs and check out Lance and the boys.
