Best wishes from Merseyside

I am newly 47. Iím a GP (thatís a primary care doctor) in Liverpool in England. I live on the other side of the Mersey in Birkenhead (the town where the Alabama was built, for those of you across the pond). I commute to work: each morning 3 miles to the ferry terminal at Seacombe, then two miles from the Pier Head in Liverpool to Toxteth. I get the train back in the evening. If I need to make the trip at night, I cycle through the Birkenhead Tunnel, one of two road tunnels under the Mersey: only accessible to bikes 20.00 Ė 06.00. I use a Trek 1000 for speed or a Ridgeback tourer if I need to lug a load of stuff about.

I visit patients at home using and old rusty single speed Triumph that my neighbour was chucking out. What it lacks in elegance it gains in lack of street cred and hance reduced thievability.

Itís nice to find a forum where people can spell long words and clearly donít dribble on the screen.

Welcome to the forums- from someone further up north.

I used to be in primary care too, but as a GDP. Now a lawyer.

My brother married a Liver bird and I'll tell you, that was a great wedding. I thought the scots knew how to celebrate.

I think you'll enjoy the discussions here, bike and non-bike

John

Amazing! I was born and spent my first 25 years in Edinburgh! I love N Queensferry, a lovely quiet little village. I can just remember going there on the ferry before the road bridge opened. I hope it's still as calm and untroubled as I remember.
