Howdy from GA

Hey ya'll. I'm pleased to find that there is a group of folks out there that put a site together to talk about their bikes. I've been on boatertalk.com for a couple of years and enjoy talking boating with fellow brothers and sisters.

I mostly was a roadie until this past year when I traded an old road bike for a Trek Y3 (really squishy, hopefully will find a new fs at the end of the year). My road bike is a Specialized Allez Sport which I love. I also have a project bike that I acquired this year. It's over 60 years old and I got it from the original owner. It's a Schwinn Ace that needs a whole lot of TLC. I've been told several times that I need to find an easier project but I would hate to see a beautiful piece of artwork go to the trash heap.

In my little bio thing when I registered I said I am retired but in actuallity I sold my half of a telecommunication business a couple of years ago and I am taking time off. I did work at Nantahala Outdoor Center last summer as a raft guide for two weeks until the doctor told me I needed shoulder surgery to repair my arm subluxating repeatedly under normal strains. I stayed up there for the rest of the summer making reservations and drooling over copious amounts of whitewater and Mt. bike trails (Tsali is a stones throw away). I did have a bright moment though. They have a outdoor store and they sell road bikes and mt. bikes and they give 30% off to employees. That's how I got my Specialized. I rode it until winter set in and started riding my Mt. bike more.

I am in the process of redefining my career goals and what I want to be when I grow up (I think if it hasn't happened by your 30th birthday it ain't goin' to happen). I do have a little more incentive now to find my life's work after meeting the girl of my dreams (she's a biker and makes me happy to be around). I just hope that it has something to do with bikes.

Well, I took a short story and turned it into an epic. Sorry.

Welcome to the forums Homey. Tsali is nice for road and mtb biking as well as rafting. I love to ride this time of year when the leaf lookers are dormant. Working at Nantahala sounds like a great summer job.
