Can't wait to get back on a real bike!!

Hi all, name is Shawn. I am currently in Kuwait with the Wisconsin Army National Guard. I work on the Computer network hear on base. Back home I ride three or four times most weeks during warmer weather. I have been riding a Cervelo Soloist for the last few years but I have all the pieces in boxes waiting for me back home to assemble my brand new R3. Call it a present to self for being in the desert for a year with out a real bike. We have a few old not well taken care of Lemond trainers hear which is nice but nothing like the real thing. I am going to be a full time student at UW Milwaukee this fall, looking forward to that. Well this is getting a bit long for an intro so LATER ALL, Shawn

Hello Shawn, how long before you get back? I think most of us would agree it's better to be back home, and able to ride a bike, even if what you're doing is important. I have a work mate who had to do two tours, with the Washington Army National Guard .

We'll be looking forward to hearing of your safe return, and in the meantime,

Welcome to BF!

Hi Shawn, welcome to the forums. At the rate it's going it's gonna be a while before it's warm enough to ride... Like maybe 6 months. At least that's the way it feels around here.
May your mission be successful and be safe.

I should be back home in the middle of July. Every day that goes buy is another step home and I get that much more antsy.

Thanks for everything you're doing out there, man! And just remember that your bike will be waiting for your return... so will the roadways and trails back here in the US of A.

A buddy of mine just returned from Western Iraq a few days ago (after a year deployment). He called while driving to San Diego, just to tell me that a bike ride is his first order of business.... after seeing his wife and kids, of course!

Give a shout out to all the other guys/gals in uniform!
