Greetings from Asheville, NC

Allow myself to introduce.....myself....

I'm a runner who has been running for years for both health and fun. I like to do marathons mostly as I'm not terribly fleet of foot and perform poorly on shorter races. Over the years, my love affair with running has been strong but I'm looking to possibly add to my running or maybe even move in a new direction with some cycling, which is what brings me here.

As far as what kind of bike I need or what, I am still very unsure. I plan to read quite a bit here as well as ask a lot of questions. I hope to make a decision soon as to whether I will choose a road or mountain bike and then I can move onto researching which bike might work best for me.

Thanks for reading and I hope to learn from everyone.

Cheers,
Impalla

Hello Impalla, check out the stickies at the tops of the forums--the stickies have a lot of information for someone just starting off with questions.

Asheville is a great place to do some cycling, and we have at least a few members there, so you might want to check into the Southeast regional forum as well.

Welcome to BF!

Thanks for the welcome, East Hill! I will head over to the Southeast regional forum and search for some other Ashevillians there!

Hello Impalla,
I live in FL, but would like to move to Asheville. Sigh...it will probably never happen. However, I'm coming to visit your lovely town next month. How's the weather? I heard it has snowed quite abit. The woman who we are going to rent a cabin from has had trouble getting someone to open her property up since it isn't in season yet.

But don't overlook recumbents. To see what I'm talking about, take a look:

We've had some snow here this winter but nothing crippling or anything. Though the more northern areas of the county and surrounding counties have had it much worse. The amount of snow North Asheville and South Asheville can get is often much different. Where is the cabin located?

Wow, those bikes are unreal. I honestly have to say that I don't know if I've ever seen one of those before!

I don't know where it is exactly (the wife organized it). I guess I should find out before I leave. I know it is close to Asheville in a "condo cabin" development. My impression is that it is not too high up. We just heard that they were able to "open it up" so it looks like the vacation is on.
