Another new guy from Southern Illinois
hey all, just got a couple of schwinn cruiser 4's my wife and i are gonna start riding rather religiously once the weather allows, been ridin around in a few inches of snow lately. i, like fred, also came over to bicycles from a bad addiction to scooters, though ive got no idea who fred is. decided to get bikes after a few years at my non-physical job driving in a car all day or sitting behind a computer all day had managed to take its toll on my gut, figured a bicycle was the best way to get "active" since i cant easily pry myself away from 2-wheelers. we both liked the looks of the cruisers and figured they'd be great for us, just wanted to pedal around town and maybe take them to some of the "scenic" trails not to far from us. I live in West Frankfort, Il if anyone was wonderin. I may have some stupid questions from time to time if i cant find it already asked here on the forum, other than that im pretty much just a lurker. lookin forward to enjoyin these bikes though !!!

Hello CCR,
Nothing wrong with being a lurker, as long as you come out every once in a while to remind us that you're still here. Snow can be fun if you are careful, ice is another story (just ask me...).
If you really think it's a 'stupid' questiion, use the search function--your question may very well have been answered before. You might want to check out the 'stickies' at the top of most of the various forums, too. There's plenty of good advice in the stickies.
Welcome to BF!

Hi CCR, I'm Fred. I didn't give the scooter up, I could never do that, it's way too huge an addiction. But scooters don't do much to provide much needed exercise. I've only been back on the bike for a few days now, but it's a wonderful way to use a couple precious hours. I find it's most enjoyable when I feel I have all the time in the world and don't have to be anywhere in particular very soon.
I think there are many Illini on this board. I met a couple of them in another section. Happy biking to you and your wife.

i know what you mean about the exercise thing, my "why walk somewhere when you can scoot" attitude made me realize a bicycle was the only way id actually get any exercise, im havin a blast on this thing, way more fun pedalin somewhere enjoyin the ride than walkin down the sidewalk starin at my feet. Ive been ridin my bike as weather allows so far been ridin round town bout 30-45 minutes a evening/night. Cant wait til the sun sets at 8PM again though. btw heres my bike
