Hello from PA

First post. I just wanted to drop in and say Hello. I`m returning to road biking after a 3 year absence. I sold my Trek 5500 USPS 3 years ago since my wife and I both have mountain bikes and we couldn`t afford a road bike for her at the time. Anyways I pick up my new bike tomorow morning. Its not as fancy as the Trek but I think it will be perfect for me. Its a Raleigh Cadent 3.0 . Will add photos tomorow

Cheers
Glenn

Hello Glenn,

Happy to see you back to the road biking, does this mean both you and your wife have now got road bikes? What part of PA are you in, we've got quite a few members in PA around Amish country...

Congrats on the new bike, and

Welcome to BF!

Whereabouts in PA? As you browse around here, you'll find that there are BF gatherings at several big events, notably the two Covered Bridges rides, one in Lancaster and the other in Bucks County.

Hello from Pa.

I live 22 miles north of Pittsburgh, ride Sewickley, Economy, Butler Co. sometimes I venture into PGH on Sunday mornings. I MB moraine st park, settlers cabin, Ohiopyle and Montour trail with the wife and friends. Somtimes I just do climbs near my house in the Ohio River valley. I lead a hectic work schedule that usually includes weekends but I get to ride M-F when most folks are at work. I travel to Philly and Charlotte often , I keep a garbage find in Philly and usually take my MB to Charlotte(I grew up in CLT and had to many run ins with rednecks to road bike there anymore) I`m sure there are good spots to ride in CLT but I don`t now where.

Anyways I got my new bike today after a 3 year road bike absence. I only road 5 miles since our roads are covered in melting snow, gravel, car parts and potholes from a snowy and cold winter. Plus I`m bad out of shape. So far the bike is great will do a detailed review after a few hundred miles.

Hi Glenn,

I'm on the other side of PA - a little bit west of Harrisburg. We have hills here too, but I have to admit that you've got us beat.

Welcome to Bike Forums.

Note that the Road Forum can be a little bit disfunctional. Mostly good people, but there are a few in every crowd it seems.

Cheers,

Z

Hello, and welcome Glenn! Hope you find this place as an informative, and often funny outreach. I'm about 50 miles south of Pittsburgh in the county of Greene. I'm a member of The Western Pennsylvania Wheelmen, and we ride all over the western side of the state. I also do a lot of riding down in West Virginia since it's so close.
The Covered Bridge ride's Irzipris pointed out are great fun, and attended by many of us here on the forums. Be sure to keep an eye out for threads for them, which will be popping up soon.

You might want to warm up by visiting with the members of this forum before you do some hardcore posting in the Road Cycling forum . They'll be kind to you for your first postings...
