Hello from the FatMan on a bike- will trade.

Hey y'all:

I am new to the forum, as I am trying to return to a pedalling lifestyle, and just found out about you on a GOOGLE. I am a former fairly serious cyclist, and used to be the President of the Bicycle Federation of TN, and used to write and publish a quarterly newsletter title "Spoke 'N' Word". On average for about 15 years I'd put 5k miles on a variety of bicycles. I got re-married and started having some kids, and have put cycling aside for pursuits of a meager financial income.

I am a full-time custom CADCAM jeweler, and hand engraver. I design motif jewelry for any wish (I have started a line of exact miniature replica guitars, and will probably do bicycles) cast in gold and platinum, palladium, and maybe silver. Your ideas can become a reality; just communicate them to me.

Back to cycling - I mostly only ride on my days off now (Monday, and Sunday) and weenie out at about a 20 mile distance. I need to get back into the distance riding.

I have a 1965-ish Raleigh Carleton frameset with front fork, that is too tall for me. Probably a 25" frameset. The guy that originally owned it was a bike store owner in upstate NY (Dick Sonne), and he was about 6'3" tall. It was the first 10-speed brought into that area from England, and I got it from his son (Steve) when I worked for the store about 12 years ago. All Campy dropouts, chromed filigree lugworks, and Reynolds 531 tubing. It's been repainted blue, and no head medallion. But I've got a garage full of too much stuff to turnaround in, and need space. Make me an offer? (minimum is known - got tro get at least what I paid for it). Mark

I'd trade for stuff like some new Conties for my Litespeed, hint hint.

Thanks for reading, and get in touch if you'd like to ride on a Sun., Mon. in middle TN.

Mark

Did someone say Classic & Vintage? A Raleigh Carlton? We demand pictures. Hasten to the C & V forum, please...

Uh, anyway,

Welcome to BF!

You might want to look at the Southeast regional forum, too, and let the folks know you're interested in those rides.

Did you ever see the Brit 'Fat Man on a bicycle' TV series?
I liked that.

You will find some new problems compared to the 'good old days'.
But you will also find ways to deal with those problems. We can help.
We have an Old Fart Forum here, but we don't call it that

That's a bit upscale, but workable.
